The Berry Morning Blend

The Berry Morning Blend

Some mornings call for something quick, delicious and genuinely nourishing. This is that smoothie.

Blueberries, mixed berries, banana, kefir and GOMO Electrolytes+ - it takes five minutes, uses ingredients that live in the freezer, and gives your body a proper start after seven or eight hours without food or water. It looks as good as it tastes.

Here’s the recipe, and the thinking behind it.

The recipe

Serves 1 · 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 100g frozen blueberries
  • 80g frozen mixed berries (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry)
  • 1 medium ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 100ml plain kefir or Greek yoghurt
  • 1 serving GOMO Electrolytes+ mixed into 150ml cold water
  • 1 tbsp natural almond butter
  • 1 tsp chia seeds

Method

  1. Mix your GOMO Electrolytes+ into 150ml cold water, then add to the blender first - liquid at the base helps everything blend cleanly.
  2. Add the frozen blueberries and mixed berries straight from the freezer.
  3. Add banana, almond butter and chia seeds.
  4. Add the kefir or yoghurt.
  5. Blend on high for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth and deep in colour.
  6. Top with a few fresh blueberries and a sprig of mint if you have it. Drink immediately.

Keep a bag of mixed frozen berries and one of blueberries in the freezer - they last months and there’s nothing to prep. The banana can be pre-frozen too. On a rushed morning this is genuinely two minutes.

What’s in it and why it works

Blueberries are one of the most antioxidant-rich fruits you can blend. The deep colour comes from anthocyanins - compounds linked to supporting cognitive function and reducing oxidative stress. Frozen blueberries retain these just as well as fresh, and they’re usually better value year-round.

Mixed berries bring vitamin C, fibre and a natural tartness that keeps the smoothie from tasting one-note. Strawberry, raspberry and blackberry together give you a broader range of micronutrients than any one berry on its own.

Banana gives natural sweetness, potassium and the body that makes this thick and satisfying rather than thin and watery. It’s what turns a fruit drink into a proper meal.

GOMO Electrolytes+ is the base of this recipe rather than plain water or juice. Mixed into 150ml of cold water before blending, it brings sodium, potassium, magnesium and vitamins to support hydration from the moment you wake up - alongside L-Theanine for calm, clear focus. It blends cleanly into the fruit without affecting the flavour. A genuinely better start than coffee alone.

Kefir or Greek yoghurt adds protein and probiotics. Protein supports muscle recovery and keeps you feeling full through the morning. The live cultures in kefir support gut health. Full-fat Greek yoghurt works well if you prefer it - the flavour holds up beautifully in a blend this fruity.

Almond butter and chia seeds round it out with healthy fats and additional fibre. Both support sustained energy through the morning, and chia seeds expand in liquid - which is part of why this smoothie is so filling despite being relatively light.
